Everyone wants to know just how many fish they can put in their aquarium. I will try to answer that question to the best of my ability. The truth is that their are a lot of varying factors involved and choices you have to make. These factors should be well thought out before you get started.

There are several formula's that you can use but they have obvious flaws. When figuring an inch of fish in a formula, an 18 inch Oscar will put out 100 times the waste of 18 Neon Tetra's that measure one inch each.

Some varables to ponder on is wheather or not you want a plecostomus in the tank, keeping in mind that some pleco's grow up to three feet long! You may want an ornate bicher which looks extremely cool, but they grow up to be two and one-half feet long! Want a black shark, better keep in mind they get to be two feet long!

If you want one of these fish then you should be prepared to replace them before they reach adult size.
